Error in Letter dating - apologies to all  The letter reported as 9th October 1917 was more likely to have been written today, 27th October 1917. I will amend the date accordingly in a few days. The actual letter was undated. It was written after a day on the range and I could only find one possible day for that in the Battalion's War Diary. I missed a second small entry on 27th October. Reading the letter, this date is more likely to [..]

Arrival in France.  May 1917 Dear Jack Just a line to let you know I am alright and that I have landed in France. The weather here has been very hot. Not at all a bad sort of place. Letter 29th January - More information  I've looked carefully at this "difficult" letter.Firstly, the two sheets of paper are identical and are the same as the paper used for the last 3 letters. The two sheets, if they were from the same letter, were folded separately into four. One sheet was folded long side first, the other, short side first. The pencil appears to be the same and in a similar state of sharpness. There is no sign of any "impression" from other pages on either sheet.I have no other letters with with similar paper that could have an extra sheet slipped in.

Letters to Kate and Jack  TWO letters written on Sunday 30th December 1917. The Battalion's War Diary records only that there was a church parade on that day, so he would have had the time to write. Reminder, the days in 1917 match 2007 so the 30th December was a Sunday for Harry also. December 30 1917 32507 9th Batt York and Lancs C Company 12 platoon L.
