el 31-Dec-1969 | Well, the latest update from Cornwall is that dad has come home from hospital - his bed has been set up downstairs and the new toilet should be finished today. He was originally discharged on Monday, but had to go back in overnight as he was suffering severe chest pains - a CT scan revealed blood clots on his lung, which they are treating with antibiotics and he was eventually discharged. Doctors are holding off further treatment for a few weeks so he can have some time at home to relax.
His irritability and memory loss mentioned in my previous update has been put down to a combination of anti depressants and steriods and since he has been taken off these drugs he has begun to be more alert and more independent, as well as much clearer in speech - I'm afraid I don't know for sure until I've been down myself and spoken to the doctors as I am getting all of my information second hand, but things feel more positive, if still very difficult.
I'm down in Cornwall next weekend (I haven't been down for a few weeks as first I was busy, then his sister has been staying), but I begin my school holidays so I will be able to spend much longer visiting in the next couple of months.
